Joanna Whitehead is a freelance journalist and editor who first cut her teeth on the renowned feminist website The F-Word in the noughties. Since then, she’s written about travel, LGBTQ+ and social justice issues, women and culture for publications such as The i, DIVA magazine, Stylist, Evening Standard, Positive News, The Telegraph and more. A contributor since 2018, Jo has written almost 2,000 stories for The Independent. Prior to focusing on journalism full-time, Jo worked in the not-for-profit and criminal justice sector ing victims of sexual and violent crime and has specialist knowledge and experience in this area.
